Population Services International (PSI) is currently recruiting personnel for a to-be established entity within the healthcare sector.
Job summary:
The Sales Director will play a pivotal role in establishing and growing Viya's presence in Vietnam. This role combines strategic commercial planning with hands-on execution in a startup-style environment, where the successful candidate will be resourceful, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working with limited resources and a small team.
The role focuses on driving sales performance through pharmacy and OTC channels, executing go-to-market plans with distributors, and ensuring product availability and visibility. The Sales Director will work closely with regional and cross-functional teams to deliver growth and build strong foundations for future scale.
Key responsibilities include:
Commercial Strategy and Execution
• Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and market share growth.
• Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify expansion opportunities; foster relationships with key customers and negotiate contracts for long-term partnerships.
• Work closely with marketing team on product portfolio to identify and develop new business opportunities and innovative go-to-market strategies.
• Analyze revenue growth; monitor profit margins and ensure annual sales targets.
• Be responsible for sales forecasts, both short and long term.
Sales and Distribution Management
• Lead and coordinate distributor sales reps and a small local team to achieve sales target for Viya sales team and distributors.
• Work closely with Finance to develop an effective trade promotion and incentive programs in line with the annual approved budget.
• Develop, monitor the operating budgets in a cost-effective manner e.g. sales, distribution, travel and
trade marketing schemes.
• Develop and maintain the relationship with Distributors/Sub-distributors to ensure the availability of products for market needs.
• Oversee inventory management to ensure stock balances that help identify and avoid potential stock outs and/or products' expiration.
• Seek opportunities to reduce costs and maximize return wherever possible.
Stakeholders Engagement:
• Represent the organization to local/international businesses/governments for ensuring the balance between profitability and social impact.
• Work closely with cross functional teams and with all stakeholders (external / internal).
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key trade customers.
• Conduct periodic visits to key customers with sales team to timely identify operational gaps - if any to maximize operational efficiency.
Operational Efficiency & People Management:
• Oversee local sales team performance and ensure their adherence to Viya's policies and guidelines.
• Recruit and mentor sales team members focusing on a culture of high-performance, accountability, innovation, and client focus.
• Support change management processes to adapt to innovative technologies and approaches.
Performance Measurement & Reporting:
• Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for both sales and distribution activities.
• Work closely with the supervisor on sales target achievement, sales growth, distribution coverage, trade campaign activities, inventory management etc.
• Periodically analyze work performance of sales team, trade activities, competitor's intelligence, and operation expenses for continuous improvement.
• Bachelor's degree in business or a related field. An MBA- an advantage
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in sales and distribution in FMCG and/or pharmaceutical sectors
• Highly knowledgeable in Sales & Distribution including proven competent in analysis of sales data
• Proven result-driven oriented.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, diverse, and multicultural environments.
• Computer literacy required particularly Excel, Words, PowerPoint and Access
