Mô tả công việc
BIS Hanoi is looking for a potential candidate to join our team as Secondary Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support). You will work in partnership with the class teacher to support the delivery of high-quality education and care to children aged 11-18 years old. The role will involve providing individual support to a student with special/additional learning/developmental needs.
KEY RESULTS AREA:
Teaching & Learning
• Establish a constructive relationship with students and interact with them according to individual needs, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
• Communication must be conducted in English
• Challenge students' thinking while understanding their limitations.
• Use strategies from the students' IEPs and work on targets.
• Give feedback to teachers on pupil achievement, progress, and problems.
• Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflicts and incidents and reporting in line with school policy
• Encourage students to self-scaffold first, then provide a prompt, then provide a clue, then model what is expected, and lastly correct them if they still haven't understood.
• Do not accept "I don't know"-use the "I don't know" framework to help you.
The Environment
• Create classroom environments that are safe and conducive to learning for students.
• Help facilitate students in collecting all their materials after a lesson has ended.
• Encourage a "plan for two."
Pastoral Care
• Positively manage students' behaviour within the classroom and address behavioural issues appropriately, ensuring that all students are kept safe and that accidents are minimised.
• Establish positive, productive working relationships with students: be consistent and fair; do not make negative comments to the students.
• Support students when they are emotional or upset in an appropriate way.
• Raise the self-esteem of students: address students in the same way; use positive comments; encourage independence appropriate to age and maturity.
• If students require lunchtime support, you will be expected to assist them (uncommon in secondary).
• Observe for any signs of mistreatment emotional or physical abuse or neglect from home or peers and report using the school safeguarding systems.
Support for the Teacher
• Familiarise yourself with each subject within the curriculum. Read the teacher's lesson plans, curriculum books, syllabus, etc. Your responsibility is to help the student, not do the work for them.

• Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflicts and incidents and reporting in line with school policy.
• Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, equal opportunities, health and safety, security, confidentiality, data protection, and report all concerns to the appropriate person.

• Attend staff meetings and other school events as deemed appropriate by the Head Teacher. Participate in training, other learning activities, and performance development as required.
• Share and contribute ideas within the school.
• Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the team and school.
Support for the cirriculumn
• Be involved in an evaluation process and professional development training aimed at improving your performance in your role.
• Deliver learning activities to students within an agreed system of supervision, adjusting activities according to students' responses/needs.
