Join our team at Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine, where you'll be immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of San Diego's stunning beach locale. Newly redesigned spaces, inspired by the natural beauty and coastal vibe of La Jolla Cove, will have you feeling energized every day. The hotel's location allows guests to explore the shoreline or indulge in shopping and dining near UC San Diego, La Jolla, and UTC Westfield. On-site, guests can enjoy activities like our junior Olympic-size pool, private cabanas, tennis courts, and cozy oversized fire pits. We are looking for exceptional talent to share these experiences with our guests.
The Food Server Assistant is responsible primarily for assisting the Food Server in serving the guest. This person must have good communication skills as well as the ability to lift, pull and push moderate weight. This is a fast paced position with continual customer contact.
Additional Responsibilities:
· Prepare, set up, stock, take down, clean and provide quality beverages and food products, adhering to all recipe and presentation standards.
· Take food and drink orders and deliver to guest room if necessary.
· Bus tables or retrieve trays and/or carts from guest rooms.
· Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
· Ensure food is stored at correct temperature.
· Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotation stock.
· Complete prep in advance as required by supervisor,
· Responsible for the sanitation of the kitchen and food preparation areas.
· Follow safe food handling and service practices at all times.
· Responsible for food service set up and break down.
· Restock any necessary items during service hours.
· Ensures the delivery of brand promise and provides exceptional guest service at all times.
· Provides excellent service to guests and internal customers in other departments as appropriate.
· Handles all guest and internal customer complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, following through to make sure problems are resolved satisfactorily.
· Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships.
· Establishes a rapport with guests maintaining good customer relationships.
· Ensures that brand standards have been implemented.
· Responds to the results of the brand standard Audit and ensures that the relevant changes are implemented.
· Works closely with other employees in a supportive and flexible manner, focusing on the overall success of the hotel and the satisfaction of hotel guests.
· Fully conversant with all aspects of the Infrasys System.
· Performs the function of cashier as required.
· Maintains par stocks of all equipment and guest supplies as required.
· Strictly adheres to all policies and procedures issued by the Finance with regard to cashiering and cash handling.
· Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all Food and Beverage items in the menu and the ability to recommend Food and Beverage combinations and up sell alternatives.
· Works in a supportive and flexible manner with other departments in line with our purpose.
· Support the hotels target for NPS and customer service.
· Support the implementation of our purpose, demonstrating and reinforcing Hyatt's values, Hyatt regency guiding principle and leadership profile.
Qualifications

Demonstrates desire and develops skill in ability to effectively operate within team
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to lift, push, pull a moderate weight
Fully conversant with all aspects of the Infrasys System.
Flexible schedule availability; willing to work holidays and weekends
A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment.
Refined verbal communication skills.
Personable and service oriented individual required.
Ability to multitask and work under pressure and prioritize.
Food knowledge and restaurant station set-up preferred.
Must have physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight.
Ability to push and pull heavy objects.
Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk long distances.
Open availability including early evening, weekends and holidays required.
Knowledge in food, wine and spirits required.
The hourly rate for this position is $20.50/hr
