International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a social media and communications Intern. This position will be based in Hanoi, Vietnam and the intern will support its social media promotion and related communication work in the country office, enhancing visibility and profile in Vietnam.
ILRIs' mission is that people's lives in low- and middle-income countries are improved through livestock science that contributes to equitable and resilient livestock systems in order to deliver food systems transformation with climate and environmental benefits. It is the only one of 15 CGIAR Research Centres dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, it has regional or country offices and projects in East, South and Southeast Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa. [protected info]
Background
ILRI is implementing a One Health research for development project portfolio in Vietnam and in Southeast Asia to addressing the threats of zoonotic diseases, AMR and foodborne diseases. Two projects that are part of this portfolio are i) the Improving human health through sustainable value chains in human-animal-environmental interactions using ICT in Vietnam (ICT4Health) funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Republic of Korea and ii) the CGIAR Initiative on Protecting Human Health through a One Health Approach (CGIAR One Health initiative). These 2 projects aim to strengthen the capacities of national partners in surveillance, early detection and emergency response, disease prevention and control and laboratory science (serology and diagnostics). The project will inform policy formulation to improve the management of transboundary animal and emerging zoonotic diseases at the interface of human, wildlife, livestock and environment.
ILRI recruits a One Health Research Associate to support the two projects in Vietnam. The main purpose of the job is to coordinate the implementation of the ICT4Health and CGIAR initiative One Health Zoonoses Work package in Vietnam.
Duties and responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Communication Officer (CO), the intern will assist with the following tasks:
Social media
· Support the daily management of ILRI Vietnam's social media platforms (Facebook and TikTok) by publishing and scheduling posts. All the draft posts must be sent to the CO for final review and posting.
· Design engaging visual and written weekly content for social media platforms in coordination with the CO.
· Monitor and track strategic engagement by collecting data and analysing traction.
· Proactively research and report on emerging trends and events across key target audiences, identifying new opportunities for increased visibility.
· Conduct research on new social media tools and best practices, providing insights into new dissemination approaches.
· Support visual design requests and deliverables (videos and social media visuals).
· Support communication campaigns of ILRI Vietnam and in the region.
Other comms works
· Assist in translating communication materials (newsletter, brief, brochure, video subtitle).
· Take photos from the field and in meetings.
· Co-create featured stories on project impact.
· Support in the organization of events.
· Provide ad-hoc support to the CO
