You want to be an important member of a strong team of other makers who take pride in their work and support each other. As a Structural Engineer (R&D), you will be working in a collaborative environment of structural design engineers, tool design engineers, and manufacturing experts. Your R&D innovation in product design will be driven by the needs of the customer, changes in building materials and methods, and building code changes. You will recommend alterations and enhancements to improve the quality, performance and cost of products. You will provide technical support and information to branch engineers, designers, customers, and other business units. The Structural Engineer (R&D) team includes civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and wood and material specialists.. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Develop products for the building industry
You will participate in developing new structural products for the concrete, light-frame wood, coldformed steel, and mass timber markets. You will develop experimental test plans, collect, organize, and analyze data, and perform calculations. You will collaborate with US Engineers to manage projects assigned; coordinate with other resources within Engineering Services VN to accomplish assigned projects. Review all projects for completeness to assure work performed meets request prior to delivery. Communicate with project stakeholders; document and report the project status periodically to stakeholders.
• Product test programs
You will break things. For over 60 years, customers have counted on Simpson Strong-Tie to provide highly engineered products with allowable loads based on physical testing. You will design product tests to determine key features to optimize performance, material use and manufacturing efficiency. You will also develop test plans to evaluate existing connectors in new applications.
• Develop technical literature
Working with US R&D Engineers, you will develop and maintain product load tables and installation illustrations used in catalogs, technical bulletins, engineering letters and other literature. You will provide technical support for products and develop new applications for products based on customer requests.
• Training and support
Train and support others who participate in the projects assigned. Provide trainings or respond to technical questions related to products from Viet Nam team
Yêu cầu
If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:
Master/Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related experience and/or training, equivalent combination of education and experience required.
No experience required. We welcome fresh graduates (from 0-1 year of experience)
Sufficient in analysis software such as SAP2000/ETABS
Sufficient in AutoCAD drafting/modelling
Proficient in VBA for Excel is a plus
Proficient in IBC, ACI318 and ASCE 7 codes is a plus
English skills: Fairly good command in English (Reading and Writing), or equivalent to TOEIC 600 - Comprehend construction documents including architectural and structural plans, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to work collaboratively with other members within department and across functions.
Analysis / Reasoning: Effective analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables and solve them independently.
Self-Management: Ability to display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
Team Player: Demonstrated ability to motivate and work with team members. Must be able to connect, interface, and communicate well with a variety of internal partners in sales, marketing, and development.
