Technical Lead Platform Engineering, C#, .NET, Azure

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead to drive the technical direction and delivery of MiTek's Internal Developer Platform (IDP). This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, enabling development teams to build, deploy, and operate software more efficiently through modern platform engineering practices.

The Technical Lead will partner with Architecture, Engineering Managers, and global engineering teams to define platform strategy, establish engineering standards, and mentor engineers while remaining actively involved in solution design and implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Define and drive the technical vision and architecture of the Internal Developer Platform.
• Lead technical design discussions and architecture reviews across platform initiatives.
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence requirements.
• Make key technical decisions while balancing business priorities, delivery timelines, and engineering quality.
• Review and approve solution designs, implementation approaches, and technical standards.

Platform Engineering

• Design, build, and evolve cloud-native platform capabilities that improve developer productivity and experience.
• Drive adoption of developer portals, CI/CD platforms, Infrastructure as Code, self-service workflows, platform APIs, and shared services.
• Lead initiatives involving Microsoft Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes, microservices, distributed systems, and developer experience.
• Promote reusable paved-road solutions that reduce cognitive load and improve engineering consistency.

Team Development

• Mentor and coach software engineers in system design, cloud engineering, architecture thinking, and engineering best practices.
• Support individual technical growth through design reviews, pairing, constructive feedback, and knowledge sharing.
• Participate in technical hiring, interviews, onboarding, and capability development.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, experimentation, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Engineering Excellence

• Establish and maintain standards for software architecture, coding, testing, observability, security, reliability, and documentation.
• Champion automation, self-service, contract testing, and continuous delivery practices.
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, maintainability, and operational efficiency.
• Use meaningful engineering and adoption metrics to guide prioritization and improvement.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a technical leadership role.
• Strong proficiency in C#, .NET.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD pipelines, Cloud Native Security
• Experience designing, building, and operating microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications.
• Solid knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, API design, event-driven architecture, and modern DevOps practices.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives across teams and facilitate architecture decisions.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing or operating an Internal Developer Platform.
• Experience with Backstage or a comparable developer portal.
• Experience building self-service engineering workflows and reusable platform products.
• Experience with GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, and software supply chain practices.
• Experience with developer experience, platform adoption, and engineering productivity initiatives.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development, Model Context Protocol (MCP), or engineering productivity tools.
• Microsoft Azure or relevant cloud certifications
