Role Description The Vietnamese OPI/VRI Interpreter - Remote is a full-time role responsible for providing accurate and unbiased interpretation between Vietnamese and English over the phone (OPI) and via video (VRI). The interpreter facilitates real-time communication in settings such as customer service, healthcare, legal, education, and public services, adhering to professional codes of conduct and confidentiality standards. Day-to-day tasks include listening carefully, conveying messages faithfully in the target language, clarifying meaning when needed, and managing turn-taking to ensure smooth conversations.
The interpreter documents basic session details as required, follows client-specific protocols, and utilizes remote tools and platforms efficiently. This role is performed remotely, requiring a stable internet connection and a quiet, professional environment.
Qualifications
Strong command of Vietnamese and English, with excellent listening, speaking, and comprehension skills.
Demonstrated interpreting abilities in OPI and/or VRI settings, with a focus on accuracy, neutrality, and confidentiality.
Familiarity with professional interpreting ethics and industry standards, including impartiality and cultural sensitivity.
Comfort with using remote communication platforms, basic computer skills, and reliable internet connectivity.
Ability to handle communication in domains such as customer service, healthcare, legal, and public services (prior experience in any of these sectors is a plus).
Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently in a remote, full-time environment.
Relevant training or certification in interpreting or translation; a degree in languages, linguistics, or related field is beneficial but not mandatory.
Availability to work flexible schedules as needed to support global clients and varying time zones.
