Job Description
1, The Wood Processing Workshop Supervisor is fully responsible for the production operation and management of the wood processing workshop. Core processes include precision cutting, milling/carving, drilling and assembly, and pre-finishing treatment (such as sanding and primer application).
2, Through systematic implementation of Lean manufacturing, this role deeply optimizes process flows and equipment efficiency. While ensuring machining accuracy and product quality, the position continuously improves material utilization, labor productivity, and on-time order delivery, ensuring the workshop serves as a key high-efficiency hub connecting material preparation and finishing operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Operations & Plan Execution
• Execute the master production plan and develop detailed daily/shift production instructions and schedules for the wood processing workshop, ensuring smooth process flow and meeting input requirements for the finishing workshop.
• Coordinate on-site operations across cutting, milling, drilling, and sanding processes; optimize production takt time and line balance.
• Monitor production progress and Work-in-Process (WIP) levels in real time; respond quickly to equipment failures and quality abnormalities to ensure 100% daily plan achievement.
2. Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
• Establish and standardize a Lean production system within the workshop, focusing on standardized work (SOPs), SMED (quick changeover), one-piece flow, and visual management.
• Lead improvement projects centered on overall material yield improvement (optimized cutting layouts) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) enhancement.
• Use tools such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to analyze production flows, eliminate the seven wastes, and shorten lead time.
3. Technology, Quality & Cost Control
• Material yield & cost control: Optimize CNC cutting layouts; monitor and analyze board/solid wood utilization data; implement cost reduction measures. Strictly control the consumption of cutting tools, sanding belts, and auxiliary materials.
• Quality management: Establish and enforce machining accuracy and appearance quality standards (e.g. dimensional tolerances, contour accuracy, hole position accuracy, surface roughness). Ensure that white-in-process parts transferred to the finishing workshop meet quality requirements. Lead analysis, handling, and corrective/preventive actions for nonconforming products.
• Equipment & fixture management: Manage daily maintenance, preventive maintenance, and inspection plans for key equipment such as CNC machining centers, precision saws, milling machines, drilling machines, and sanding equipment. Lead optimization and improvement of fixtures and jigs to ensure equipment accuracy and stability.
4. People & Team Management
• Fully responsible for team building and management, including manpower allocation, skills training, performance evaluation, and incentive mechanisms.
• Develop and implement multi-skilled operator training programs to enhance flexible production capability for multi-variety, small-batch orders.
• Strengthen safety production and 6S management, fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
5. Safety, 6S & Compliance
• Strictly enforce safety operating procedures, especially for high-risk areas such as high-speed cutting and dust collection systems, ensuring zero major safety accidents.
• Maintain high-standard 6S conditions in the workshop, ensuring clear aisles, proper material positioning, and a clean environment.
• Ensure production activities comply with environmental requirements, including dust and noise control.
6. Communication & Coordination
• (Fluent English preferred) Able to read technical documents, prepare basic work reports, and communicate via email with overseas teams in English.
• Work closely with upstream material preparation workshops to ensure material quality and supply rhythm, and coordinate seamlessly with downstream finishing/packaging workshops to ensure smooth flow.
• Collaborate efficiently with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance departments to promote process improvement and problem resolution.
