Chief Accountant - Finance Operations & AI Enablement

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to support managing the day-to-day finance operations of
multiple software businesses across Australia, New Zealand, North America, and other regions.
This is a hands-on role. You will support the integrity of the ledger and the month-end close while helping to
develop the team, systems, and controls that support growth. It is also an AI-forward role: we expect you to help
drive AI and automation adoption across the finance function, not simply be aware of it.
You will work directly with the Group Finance Director, partner with Finance Managers across the group of
software companies, and provide day-to-day supervision and technical guidance to the Vietnam-based Junior
Accountants.
Key Responsibilities
Financial control and reporting
 Review and approve journals, accruals, prepayments, and supporting schedules
 Review bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations
 Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and employee expense processing
 Prepare and review management reporting packs for the Group Finance Director
 Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts across entities
 Maintain accurate financial records, controls, and supporting documentation
 Support a reliable, on-time month-end and year-end close across all supported business units
Team support and multi-business unit coordination
 Act as a key finance point of contact for Finance Managers and operational leaders across regions
 Coordinate audit requests, statutory compliance activities, and tax filing preparation
 Drive consistency and standardisation of transactional processes across business units
 Support the onboarding and integration of newly acquired businesses into group processes
 Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across multiple countries
AI, automation and process improvement
 Identify and prioritise repetitive processes suitable for automation or standardisation
 Own finance process documentation and ensure it stays current
 Support workflow automation and system improvement initiatives, including NetSuite (or other Accounting
Systems) enhancements as appropriate
 Review existing processes and encourage smarter ways of working across the team
 Use AI tools to improve data quality, reporting accuracy, and process efficiency
