Chief Accountant

Reporting line: Reports directly to the Chief Enterprise and Growth Officer (CEGO)
Entity scope: SHOEfabrik and SHOEfabrik Manufacturing
Location scope: Trung Son Residential Area, HCMC, Vietnam
Position Summary
Acts as the Registered Chief Accountant for both SHOEfabrik and SHOEfabrik Manufacturing. The position oversees accounting, tax, statutory compliance, audit coordination, internal controls, and reporting across both legal entities. Working closely with the overseas CEGO, the role combines team leadership with hands-on involvement in critical reporting, forecasting, deadlines, and complex accounting matters.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Statutory Compliance
• Act as Registered Chief Accountant for both SHOEfabrik and SHOEfabrik Manufacturing in accordance with Vietnamese law.
• Ensure compliance with Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS), the Law on Accounting, and other applicable regulations.
• Take responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of accounting records across both legal entities.
• Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls and accounting governance.
• Oversee timely monthly and annual financial closing and the accurate submission of statutory reports to the relevant authorities.
• Communicate and cooperate with commercial banks and the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV).
• Align statutory accounting with management and group reporting requirements.
• Act as the final reviewer and sign-off authority for accounting outputs.
Tax & Audit Management
• Oversee all tax matters for both legal entities, including Value Added Tax (VAT), Corporate Income Tax (CIT), and Foreign Contractor Withholding Tax (FCWT).
• Lead tax planning, compliance, and risk management.
• Manage and represent the companies during statutory audits, tax audits, and inspections.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisers, and consultants.
• Support transfer pricing compliance and documentation.
Management Reporting & Planning
• Prepare and review management reports for the overseas CEGO.
• Support forecasting, financial planning, and financial analysis.
• Remain hands-on for critical reporting, deadlines, and complex accounting issues.
Systems & Process Improvement
• Oversee accounting systems and data integrity across SHOEfabrik and SHOEfabrik Manufacturing.
• Drive improvements in closing efficiency, reporting quality, controls, workflows, and system automation using current technology.
• Ensure appropriate accounting practices for the service entity and the manufacturing entity.
• Develop robust accounting practices for SHOEfabrik Manufacturing, with a focus on production costing, goods flow, and inventory tracking.
• Identify process improvements and use suitable technology, including artificial intelligence, to support automation.
Job Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Vietnamese Chief Accountant Certificate issued or recognised by the Ministry of Finance.
• Eligible to be registered as Chief Accountant under Vietnamese law.
• Preferred professional certifications: ACCA, CFA, CMA.
Experience
• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Chief Accountant in Vietnam.
• Strong experience in foreign-invested manufacturing companies.
• Extensive exposure to tax compliance, audits, and inspections; transfer pricing exposure is an advantage.
• Proven experience leading accounting teams.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of VAS and Vietnamese tax regulations.
• Leadership mindset with hands-on execution capability.
• High integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
• Fluent English, both spoken and written.
• Experience with Odoo ERP is an advantage.
