The Commercial Manager - Special Project is responsible for driving growth in the shipyard and fabrication yard sectors by identifying new business opportunities, building strong customer relationships, and positioning the company as a preferred partner for services relevant to vessel repairs, conversions, newbuild projects, and fabrication works.
This role ensures alignment between Sector Heads, Regional BD Manager and Key
Account Manager on strategic priorities, sector growth plans, and country execution, with a focus on revenue generation, customer acquisition, and cross-border collaboration.
This role requires strong industry knowledge, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate closely with internal technical and commercial teams.
1. Build awareness of our business across BL by communicating and sharing intelligence with local team and other offices within BL network.
2. Leveraging off existing customers / relationships to develop opportunities and close deals.
3. Register BL as approved vendors with reputable shipyard, fabrication yard and related stakeholders
4. Establish a list of Key Accounts & build relations with these companies.
5. Working with the local commercial team, Group Commercial Manager, Regional BD Manager on multi-country opportunities, thus creating a credible sales pipeline for Vietnam.
6. Participating in bid-tenders and securing work.
7. Networking in local association and building positive rapport with customers.
8. Identifying new channels or partnerships to broaden our market share.
9. Promote technical services and towage, agency matters, and purchase & sale of the vessels.
10. Take on other work as / when required by management.
- Min 8-10 years of offshore project experience or equivalent.
- A minimum bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain & Logistics, marine engineering or related subject.
- Good working knowledge of marine project operation.
- A competent knowledge of MS Office, Word, and Excel.
- Able to communicate in English effectively
- Excellent communication ability, attention to the details.
- Good knowledge of ship agency business related to IL product.
- Commercial savvy
- Have good relationships and connections with local vendors/government entities & port authorities
- Having knowledge about Commercial, Marine, Heavy cargo transportation & installation, freight forwarding knowledge required.
- Have experience selecting the sub-agents / vendors as per actual requirements
- Submission of quality tender and quotation to clients
- Sourcing the cost for tenders
- Other assignment as delegated by reporting manager
