Job Description
I. ROLE PURPOSE
The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing the technical design, planning, and execution of construction and renovation projects. This role ensures that all engineering aspects of restaurant fit-outs and infrastructure align with brand standards, safety regulations, and operational efficiency while managing timelines and technical quality.
II. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Project Planning & Technical Design
Ensure all engineering blueprints and technical specifications meet functional requirements and aesthetic standards.
Review and validate MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) and structural designs for new stores and renovations.
Collaborate with architects and designers to ensure technical feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
Prepare detailed project schedules and technical resource allocations.
2. Construction Management & Site Supervision
Oversee on-site activities to ensure construction quality and adherence to safety protocols.
Supervise contractors and vendors to ensure work aligns with approved technical drawings and quality standards.
Conduct regular site inspections to identify and resolve technical issues or bottlenecks immediately.
Monitor project progress against timelines and implement corrective actions for any delays.
3. Cost Control & Procurement Support
Manage technical budgets and support the procurement of high-quality materials and equipment.
Provide technical input for BoQ (Bill of Quantities) preparation and vendor selection.
Review and verify contractor progress claims and variation orders.
Identify opportunities for value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
III. SUCCESS METRICS & KPIS
1. Project Delivery Timeline
Measure the ability to complete engineering phases within the agreed-upon schedule.
% of projects completed on or before the handover date.
Variance between planned vs. actual project milestones.
2. Quality & Safety Compliance
Track adherence to technical standards and safety protocols.
Number of zero-critical safety incidents on managed sites.
% reduction in post-handover technical defects or "snag list" items.
3. Budget Adherence
Monitor the management of engineering costs and variation orders.
% variance between approved engineering budget and actual spend.
Value of cost-savings achieved through value engineering or technical optimization.
Key Influencing Factors for KPI Achievement
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Success depends on seamless coordination with the Design, Procurement, and Operations teams, as well as external government authorities for permitting.
Geographic, Cultural, or Market Factors: Must adapt construction methods to local site conditions and navigate regional supply chain variations within Vietnam and international markets.
