Intern, Materials Development

PURPOSE
Assist in the materials development process by supporting key functions related to material sourcing, selection, and quality assessment.
Gain hands-on experience in a dynamic global sourcing environment while contributing to the creation of innovative materials that align with marketing and design strategies.
Support the continuous improvement of internal processes and sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Provide administrative and operational support for the materials development team.
Assist in gathering, organizing, and maintaining material data within internal databases and reporting tools.
Support material research, including trends, sustainability initiatives, and innovation strategies.
Help in coordinating communication between internal teams such as Design, Product Development, and Sourcing.
Work with Tier 2 suppliers under supervision to assist in material sampling and testing coordination.
Support documentation and tracking of materials testing results in compliance with adidas quality standards.
Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations related to materials selection, trends, and sustainability.
Participate in team meetings and learning opportunities to understand the end-to-end material development process.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Strong interest in materials science, sustainability, or product development.
Basic understanding of material types and production processes is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and collaboration abilities.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
Fluent in English; additional language skills are a plus.
Requisite Education And Experience
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Textile Technology, or a related field.
Previous internship or academic project experience in materials, sustainability, or product development is a plus.
