About the role
Wanek Furniture is seeking an accomplished HR Director - Vietnam to serve as a strategic business and people leader for our large-scale manufacturing operations.
Reporting to the Senior HR Director and partnering closely with the General Director and Leadership Team, this role translates business priorities into a clear people strategy, leads the HR organization and strengthens leadership, culture and organizational effectiveness.
The successful candidate will combine strong commercial judgment with deep HR leadership. They will be credible in the executive room, trusted by employees and line leaders, and able to turn strategy into disciplined execution in a complex, fast-moving and matrixed environment.
Key accountabilities
Executive partnership and business strategy
Serve as a trusted advisor and constructive challenger to the General Director and senior leaders on business, organization, leadership and people decisions.
Translate business strategy into short- and long-term workforce and HR priorities, connecting manpower, capability, productivity, labor cost, retention and organizational risk.
Build strong relationships across local, regional and global stakeholders, navigating competing priorities and creating alignment in a matrix organization.
Use workforce insights and people analytics to inform decisions, anticipate risks and measure business impact.
HR team leadership and organizational capability
Lead, coach and develop the HR leadership team, strengthening accountability, succession and functional capability across the HR organization.
Build a connected "One HR Team" with clear roles, consistent standards and strong collaboration across functions and operating locations.
Shape organization design, workforce planning, leadership development and succession solutions that support changing business needs.
Ensure HR priorities are executed with pace, quality, ownership and measurable outcomes.
Culture, performance and talent
Drive a high-performance culture grounded in leadership accountability, teamwork, service, integrity and respect.
Lead organizational change and ensure new structures, processes and ways of working are understood, adopted and sustained.
Sponsor enterprise talent priorities, including critical-role pipelines, employer branding, cross-border role-transfer initiatives, performance management, career development and retention.
Provide leadership oversight for total rewards, recognition and incentive programs in alignment with business needs and corporate governance.
Strengthen employee engagement and communication, creating effective connection between leadership, line management and employees.
Governance and employee relations
Provide leadership on employee and labor relations, ensuring sensitive matters are handled fairly, consistently and in accordance with Vietnam labor law.
Maintain strong HR governance, ethical standards and risk management while enabling practical business solutions.
Partner with leaders to embed sound people-management practices and reinforce management ownership of people outcomes.
What you bring
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline, together with typically 12+ years of progressive HR experience and at least five years in a senior HR leadership role.
Proven success leading HR in a large-scale manufacturing environment of approximately 3,000 or more employees; multi-site experience is preferred.
Strong track record of advising and influencing General Directors, executives and senior stakeholders, including the confidence to challenge constructively.
Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing HR teams, develop HR leaders and create accountability across a complex organization.
Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to connect people decisions to workforce economics, productivity, cost, capacity and business performance.
Substantial experience in organization design, change leadership, culture transformation, performance, talent and succession.
Excellent interpersonal judgment, communication, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills; able to build trust while managing difficult issues.
Sound knowledge of Vietnam labor law and labor-relations practices, high integrity and professional judgment, and professional fluency in Vietnamese and English.
