* Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Materials Program Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling material requirements to support production, engineering programs, and customer demand. - This role serves as the key interface between engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, suppliers, and program management to ensure material availability, cost control, and schedule adherence throughout the product lifecycle.
* Program & Materials Planning
- Develop and manage material plans aligned with program schedules, production ramps, and engineering changes
- Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and assemblies to meet build requirements
- Monitor material demand, shortages, excess, and obsolescence risks
* Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as the primary materials focal point for assigned programs
- Collaborating with Engineering on BOM accuracy, part substitutions, and ECO/MCO implementation
- Work closely with
Purchasing, and Manufacturing to resolve material constraints
* Supplier & Inventory Management
- Support supplier readiness, capacity planning, and lead-time alignment
- Track and mitigate supplier risks impacting program schedules
- Manage inventory levels to balance continuity of supply and cost efficiency
* Cost & Schedule Control
- Analyze material cost impacts, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction
- Support program cost reviews and material budget forecasting
- Identify and drive actions to minimize expediting, premium freight, and excess inventory
* Data Analysis & Reporting
- Maintain accurate material data in ERP/MRP systems
- Prepare material status reports, shortage reports, and risk assessments for program reviews
- Use data tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.) to analyze trends and support decision-making
* Continuous Improvement
- Identify process gaps and lead initiatives to improve material planning, forecasting, and execution
- Support standardization of material planning processes across programs
