PHP Backend Developer Laravel/Magento/Wordpress

Role Summary

As a PHP Backend Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain web applications using Laravel, Magento (Adobe Commerce), WordPress, and other PHP frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design and development: Lead the design and development of moderately to highly complex web applications in PHP; apply best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
• Project leadership: Define milestones, timelines, and deliverables; work closely with project managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful execution.
• Code quality and standards: Maintain high code quality; conduct code reviews; promote and enforce coding standards and best practices.
• Performance optimization: Improve application performance and scalability; identify and resolve bottlenecks in code and database queries.
• Security: Implement and maintain robust security measures; stay current with emerging threats and countermeasures.
• Integration: Build and integrate internal and external APIs; ensure reliable and secure data exchange with other systems.
• Continuous learning: Stay up to date with trends in the PHP ecosystem-particularly Laravel and Magento-and help improve development processes.

Required Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in PHP with hands-on experience in Laravel, Magento (Adobe Commerce), and WordPress.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL) and writing efficient SQL queries.
• Familiarity with RESTful API design and consumption.
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews).
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• English communication (spoken and written) for day-to-day collaboration with global teammates and clients.
• Experience with other PHP frameworks (e.g., Symfony, CodeIgniter).
• Knowledge of containerization tools such as Docker
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Trello).
