Production Manager (Sawing Department)

The Sawing manager is responsible for the daily operation and coordination of the sawing department. He/She will lead by example and implement the Laurelton Manufacturing Practices and Philosophy. The main responsibilities are the day to day and medium term control of the production department. He/She leads with integrity, motivated, is assertive, anticipates and solves problems. The main indicators are the required product quality standards and productivity. Adherence to procedures is essential. As the leader of the production team he/she provides appropriate guidance, supervision and direction for normal production conduct and behavior in a fair and safe working environment.
Production
• Ensure that production goals are met in all areas according to plan and specifications: Key areas are: Quality, Yield, Delta Value, Productivity, Cost/Cts and Pipe line.
• Plans with her/his team the production, anticipates problems and suggests corrective actions duly well in advance. Ensure any changes are implemented only upon successful completion of trials and approvals.
• Implement Laurelton Diamonds manufacturing practices and philosophy.
• Maintain a normal production output, QC-ing stones in the areas required.
• Create and maintain a balanced work flow of stones and head count are met in all areas
Lead and coach
• Act as a coach, mentor-motivator of his/her team. This means being actively involved in the performance management process: communicate goals and values, continuously give feedback (both positive and constructive), listen, show empathy, organize corrective actions and training, assess performance in an objective way.
• Coach and set plans to manage and improve performance.
• Give clear assignments and follow up
Training
• Successfully coordinate and steer the diamond technical training.
• Intensively work with your team: team leaders/trainers, achieving your training goals in all areas: Sorting, Marking, Fixing, Sawing.
• As a part of training, emphasize on using Laurelton procedures and policies at all times. Constantly review the training contents and make changes if needed to improvise.
Communication and Liason
• Be the communication liaison between the team, colleagues and management. As a production team member, you point out quality / (production issues), attend meetings, make suggestions to improve
• Liaise actively with inventory control with regards to the logistics planning of the factory, making sure that production is balanced and shipment schedules are adhered to
• Liaise actively with Quality assurance making sure quality standards are met.
• Liaise with the workshop making sure equipment issues are communicated.
• Communicate to preparation/Laurelton Antwerp, making sure estimates discrepancies are discussed.
