Duties and Responsibilities
- A Research and Development Manager shall be expected to perform the including but not limited to the following key tasks:
Management Role
• Plan, organize, drive and ensure department functional operation aligning with company business plan and achieving department KPIs..
• Set individual KPIs and organizational goals for below management levels and teams.
• Recommend and review department budgets. Approve and control department expenses within approved budgets.
• Check and varify requests for necessary resources for the operation of department.
• Develop, interpret, guide and ensure the implementation and pratice of department operation system including policies, SOPs, work instructions and standards.
• Work with IT on developing database, functional modules on ERP software and implementing IT solutions to support department works. Manage department database and function on ERP software.
• Work with HR on HR policy practice and building company image.
• Take ownership on subordinates attitude, retention, engagement, career development progression, health and safety, talent development and succession plan for below management levels.
• Monitor and provide performance appraisal for below supervisors and staffs. Review and approve performance appraisal for below team leaders.
• Approve hiring and promotion. Recommend firing and demotion,
• Drive, train, deligate, motivate and ensure subordinates working to their best ability and department delivering the highest level of performance.
• Build and promote the atmosphere within department that encourages team work, cooperation and engagement.
• Make critical decisions which relates and impacts within department under company policies and ensure "company comes first".
• Identify challenges and ssuggests changes or actions in where and what department needs to improve.
• Collaborate with line managers to get thing done effectively and diplomatically.
• Proactively provide risks assessment and implement solutions to prevent problems.
• Execute training need analysis within department, recommand training solutions for performance improvement and talent development within department..
• Be an internal trainer in function. Deliver department prepsentation in management meetings.
• Lead ccontinuous improvement projects within department.
• Pprepare reports to provide a full picture of department operation and performance.
• Other related tasks assigned by immediate superior.
Functional Role
• Plans and designs furniture, lamps and accessories with consideration to layout, function, aesthetics, price point and safety. Manage design team including internal
designers and draftsmen to research, develop ideas and designs as well as to achieve department targets.
• Consults with customers and external designers to determine needs, preferences and expectations.
• Works as
senior designer to analyse function, structure, finishes, materials required and presents sketches to superior or customers for approval. Researches, selects or recommends materials, hardwares, finishes such as decoratings and paintings.
• Research, utilize and develop new designing skills and techniques, computer-aided design systems and applications as part of the design process and for consultation with customer.
• Work closely with sample workshop, production, planning, customer service, sales and marketing departments on making samples and providing customers with necessary presentation and information regarding designs and samples.
