The Purpose of the Job:
To oversee all development activities including pattern development, technical merchandising, BOM preparation, printing development, and trim card preparation, ensuring samples are developed accurately, efficiently, and ready for bulk production.
Responsibilities in details
1. Development Management
Manage the entire product development process from costing, proto samples, SMS, size set, and PP samples.
Ensure development timelines meet customer and internal planning requirements.
Monitor development progress and proactively resolve delays.
2. Technical Development Control
Ensure patterns, constructions, and technical specifications meet customer requirements.
Review garment construction and foresee potential risks for bulk production.
Ensure sample construction is feasible for mass production.
3. Cross-Functional Coordination
Coordinate closely with Merchandising, Sample Room, Production, QA, and
Purchasing teams.
Ensure smooth information flow between development teams and production teams.
Support problem solving for technical or construction challenges.
4. Costing & BOM Accuracy
Oversee BOM preparation including trims, accessories, and consumption data.
Ensure costing data (fabric consumption, trims, accessories) is accurate for quotation and bulk production.
Validate development information before submission to Merchandising.
5. Development Quality Assurance
Ensure all development outputs (patterns, trim cards, printing instructions, technical documents) are accurate and complete.
Review critical technical points before samples are submitted to customers.
6. Supplier & Development Support
Support development activities with suppliers for printing, embroidery, trims, and special techniques.
Resolve technical issues related to materials, trims, and production methods.
7. Team Leadership & Capability Development
Lead and develop the R&D team to improve technical capability and development efficiency.
Provide technical guidance and training for team members.
Build a strong technical knowledge base for future product development.
8. Process Improvement
Improve development processes to shorten lead time and reduce development errors.
Standardize technical documentation and development workflows.
Promote innovation in construction methods and product development.
