Job Requirements

Purpose:

Provide risk engineering / loss control services for Chubb Insurance underwriting operations in Hong Kong and Southern China, and globally when required.
Identify risks and exposures associated with property and casualty insurance policy coverages in accordance with Chubb standards.
Provide value added risk engineering services to clients of Chubb.

Responsibilities:

Undertake loss control / risk management activities in accordance with Chubb guidelines.
Complete assessment of risk to insured properties (i.e. fire, natural perils, general & product liabilities, etc.) for internal and external customers based on Chubb standards. This may include:

Physical site surveys
Review of information provided by third parties
Information collected from internet, subscriptions to loss prevention standards, phone / video calls, and site meetings with external customers

Technical support and leadership to less experienced risk engineers and Chubb underwriting staff.
Account management, including scheduling and monitoring of site visits, quality assurance, and development of relationships with customers.
Remain abreast of current loss control and engineering best practices, including identifying emerging risks and claims trends.
Work in conjunction with others on special projects to improve process efficiency and enhancement of services.
Develop subject matter expertise in a designated area.
Marketing of Chubb Risk Engineering Services.
Occupational Health & Safety: Accountable for taking all practical measures to ensure that the workplace and persons under their control are safe and without risk to health.
Champion risk culture values and be a strong advocate for good customer outcomes in all business activities.
Promote continuous improvement to Chubb's products and services having regard to product assessments, IT solution and business efficiencies.
Understand your role and take ownership of risks and controls as a first line risk owner.
Effectively manage third party arrangements you/your function is responsible for, ensuring effective oversight and monitoring is in place and steps are taken promptly where issues are identified.
Promptly report incidents and ensure functional area does the same. Handle any complaints fairly and promptly in accordance with Chubb policy.
Participate in quarterly compliance attestation process and provision of accurate information for Board and Committee reporting.

Work Experience

Requirements:

Engineering or physical science degree or diploma with at least 3-5 years post-degree work experience, preferably involving facility maintenance, fire engineering / fire protection system design, building compliance, essential services maintenance, general manufacturing, quality controls, or engineering roles at industrial operations.
At least 3-5 years insurance industry experience in risk engineering / loss adjusting is preferred, but not essential.
Demonstrated ability to analyze a technical issue, summarize any findings and identify any corrective action required.
Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) language skills are essential.
Good technical report writing skills. The ability to write clearly and concisely is essential.
A willingness to travel to service client locations throughout Hong Kong, Southern China, Taiwan and further afield if required.
