JOB DESCRIPTION-TOOLING ENGINEER

Direct Report to: Sr. Tooling Engineer or Innovation Manager (Innovation Team)
Work Location: Vietnam Core Sourced Factories

Position Summary:
Act as a dedicated technical resource within NB Vietnam Innovation team to benchmark, engineer & standardize new-soles and innovation-related CAD/Tooling processes for optimal consistency for product execution and, to ensure such molds, fixtures are proven, tested & documented before adoption for production.
Assist and support Innovation Manager to prepare and maintain relevant tooling engineering records.

Main Responsibilities:
Actively collaborate with functional team members, manage and facilitate sole development on a seasonal basis.
Act as expert resource for the categories during sole development and commercialization to identify and alleviate potential manufacturing, efficiency or costing concerns on toolings.
Attend all the pre-teardown meeting and support Category teams to make early recommendations on sole parts processing and tooling solutions. Ensure design for manufacturing to a level of proven and tested at the time of model size sample confirmation.
Ensure consistency in bottom components processing, good sample quality and adherence to timelines.
Collaborate with other functional teams on a regular basis to develop general guidance and process efficiency project agendas on tooling side, take initiative in driving the use of best practice, design for manufacturing guidelines in mold making.
Work closely with PEM on process efficiencies, quality and performance initiatives.
Support innovation plans to meet category and infrastructure needs.
Insure proven and tested readiness of new technologies and methods prior to production.

Technical Proficiency 1) Maintain a high level of understanding of technologies & their
applications in footwear production.
2) Strong knowledge in tooling engineering like mold making and construction with ability to read and interpret technical drawing and specification sheets.
3) Strong knowledge of Chemical material processing. Familiar with 2D/3D applications like Cadkey and Rhino etc...
Communication 1) Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
and Influence 2) General computer knowledge and familiar with applications with regards to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
3) Ability to provide guidance and advice with in area of expertise.
Strong team player, able to appropriately involve, influence and persuade others without direct authority when working with team members and factory partners.

Years of Relevant Work Experience Required: at least 5 years

Educational Level Requirement: Bachelor Degree

Foreign Language Requirement: Fluent oral and written English

Computer Operation Requirement: Conversant with MS office

Other Requirements:
4-year Degree (e.g. Bachelor), diploma in mechanical engineering or related field etc.
Minimum 5 years relevant experience in footwear product creation and / or product manufacturing.
Experience in mold shop and as a tooling engineer is a MUST.
