Job Description
As a Startup Programs & Community Intern, you will support the day-to-day operations of UII Startup Incubator across our incubation programs, sandbox programs, community engagement activities, startup growth initiatives, and administrative tasks.
This role is ideal for students who are passionate about startups and innovation, and who want to gain hands-on experience in program operations, event management, and working directly with founders and ecosystem partners.
Detailed Job/Task description:
USI interns will be responsible for one or more of the following areas of work:
Program & Startup Support (Incubation & Sandbox Programs)
Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of incubation and sandbox program activities (recruitment, orientation sessions, workshops, mentoring sessions, milestone reviews, etc.).
Help manage startup profiles and digital records: program applications, onboarding information, milestones, task lists, and reports.
Coordinate scheduling and logistics for mentoring sessions, check-ins, and internal review meetings.
Support the team in collecting and consolidating updates from startups (progress reports, KPIs, key achievements, challenges).
Assist in preparing program materials and templates (e.g., forms, slide decks, guideline documents).
Community Engagement & Events
Support the planning, organizing, and running of events such as workshops, talks, networking sessions, hackathons, demo days, and community meetups.
Assist with event logistics, including coordination with venues, catering, equipment, and online platforms (if hybrid/online).
Help manage participant registration, reminders, and post-event follow-up (surveys, summary emails, basic reports).
Contribute ideas to make events and community activities more engaging for students, founders, mentors, and partners.
Startup Growth & Research Support
Conduct basic market and industry research to support startups and program design (e.g., competitor scans, trend summaries, desk research).
Help prepare simple research briefs and summary documents for internal use or for startups.
Assist in tracking startup growth activities, such as experiments, customer interviews, pilot projects, and partnership outreach.
Support the incubator team in collecting, organizing, and visualizing data related to startup performance and program impact (with guidance).
Communications & Content Support
Assist in drafting program announcements, event descriptions, newsletters, and social media content for UII and UII Startup Incubator channels.
Coordinate with the team to gather photos, quotes, and stories from events and startup activities.
Help maintain and update basic content on digital platforms (e.g., website sections, community groups, mailing lists), under guidance.
Administration & Operations
Help manage co-working and office spaces, including desk allocation, meeting room bookings, and maintaining a welcoming environment for startups and guests.
Assist with paperwork, documentation, and record-keeping, both physical and digital.
Coordinate meetings and calendars, and support with email correspondence and follow-ups when needed.
Work closely with other team members to streamline workflows and improve processes.
Other Tasks
Contribute to brainstorming sessions and internal projects to improve incubator services and activities.
Take on other tasks as assigned by the Incubator Manager and/or Management Board of UII.
Job requirements:
Education & Background
Second-year undergraduate or above from a recognized university.
Field of study in Business, Management, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Economics, Technology, or related disciplines is preferred, but all majors with a strong interest in startups are encouraged to apply.
Skills & Competencies
Strong interest in startups, innovation, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Content writing and design skills (Canva, AI tools) are required to support communication tasks on UII's official fanpage.
Good organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable interacting with founders, mentors, partners, and students.
Proficiency in office and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace; familiarity with tools like Zoom, Notion, etc. is a plus).
Basic analytical and problem-solving skills; able to conduct simple research and summarize findings.
Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
Professional in English communication (spoken and written). Additional languages are a plus.
Attitude & Mindset
Highly driven, "can-do" attitude with a willingness to learn quickly.
Proactive and resourceful, able to take initiative with guidance.
Collaborative team player, open to feedback and committed to supporting others.
Demonstrated experience in student clubs, projects, competitions, or volunteer activities is an advantage.
Availability
Able to commit to an internship of 3 months (full-time).
Willing to support evening or weekend activities occasionally when events or programs require it.
