Job Requirements

PRODUCT:

Excess & Umbrella Casualty business: Retain. Grow. Service. Cross Sell:
Profitably manage a renewal book of large accounts with a focus on retaining desired business through appropriate risk selection, coverage negotiation, and pricing adequacy
Generate new business revenues by developing and managing target account lists, visiting brokers, participating in direct presentations and negotiating programs and cross marketing within the Chubb organization
Oversight of the Excess Casualty Major Accounts book of business by underwriting and managing the underwriting authority referral process to meet corporate goals for growth, profit, and best in class customer service
Develop policy, service offerings:
Identify, analyze, and develop sources of new business (product or service) to meet, if not exceed, revenue growth targets
Cross Sell Chubb:
Cross sell and work with other product lines to utilize and build-out existing customer and broker relationships within the Chubb globally, including P&C, A&H, Financial Lines, and PRS
Strategy and Execution:
In tandem with North American senior leadership, contribute to ongoing strategy development for the overall book of business
Responsible for execution of tactical plans to achieve goals for profitability, growth, and service excellence

PROCESS:

Responsible for success of assigned book of business
Referral underwriter for Umbrella & Excess underwriting staff
Monitor, Maintain & Report:
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the department through company information systems
Service standards by timely response to broker requests in addition to meeting deadlines on submissions of quotations, certificates and/or policies
Ensure underwriting guidelines, referral protocol, and pricing models are in place and consistently utilized to support sound underwriting decisions
Audit:
Oversee product line integrity through management of underwriting audits and monitor implementation of audit recommendations
Manage periodic adjustments to underwriting standards and procedures accordingly
Provide technical underwriting/marketing leadership to junior team members

Work Experience

Completion of University degree / College diploma / or equivalent insurance-related education and experience
Professional industry designation (e.g. CIP, FCIP, or CRM) or actively pursuing same, considered an asset
A minimum of 5 years of previous casualty underwriting experience; experience with US risks and umbrella & excess liability programs for global operations is preferred
Flexibility, creativity, and adaptability in handling domestic and global business in order to develop new opportunities and provide continued value to existing clients
Demonstrated analytical and risk underwriting skills that applies directly to selection, pricing, account handling and book management, including industry trends, legal, regulatory and jurisdictional issues
Superior negotiation skills, proven through established broker relationships
Superior marketing ability, combined with excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated track record of customer service orientation and proven ability to foster strong business relationships
Experience with policy wording development
Ability to travel occasionally, as required
