Deputy Team Leader - Logistics Controller

1. Job Overview
The Deputy Team Leader plays a dual role within the Logistics Controller Consulting team. On one hand, the role remains actively embedded in day-to-day project work - performing analyses, data processing, and benchmarking. On the other hand, the Deputy Team Leader serves as a quality gate and operational coordinator, ensuring that all team deliverables meet the highest standards of accuracy and completeness before submission.
This position is ideal for an experienced logistics controller professional who is ready to step into a leadership track - someone who combines strong technical proficiency with an eye for quality, solid organizational skills, and the ability to support and guide team members.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Operational Project Work:
• Perform project-related analyses, data processing, and benchmarking activities as an active contributing member of the team.
• Conduct detailed verification and analysis of logistics invoices, freight data, and cost structures.
• Collect, process, and interpret data for statistical reporting, providing actionable insights for process improvement.
• Utilize MS Office tools (especially Excel, Power Query, Power BI).
B. Quality Assurance & Delivery:
• Review all project deliverables before submission to ensure quality, accuracy, completeness, and consistency of output.
• Act as the primary quality assurance of contact within the team, identifying and correcting potential issues prior to delivery.
• Establish and maintain quality standards and review checklists to ensure consistent output across team members.
C. Project Monitoring & Coordination:
• Monitor project progress across ongoing workstreams and proactively highlight potential risks or delays to the Team Leader.
• Provide regular and structured status updates to the Team Leader regarding project progress, risks, and team workload.
• Support workload planning and task distribution when needed.
D. Team Support & Communication:
• Support team members in communication with the German-speaking internal stakeholders, acting as a bridge where language or cultural alignment is needed.
• Foster a collaborative and structured team environment aligned with the company's professional standards.
E. Vacation Cover & Leadership Continuity:
• Act as the direct replacement for the Team Leader during periods of absence, ensuring continuity of operations, client communication, and team management.
• Be prepared to make operational decisions and escalate issues appropriately during coverage periods.
