About Student Engagement Unit
As the unit of the Student Life Department, Student Engagement believes that our educational
priority is to facilitate and nurture cross-campus involvement in opportunities, programs and events
designed to foster the holistic development of students and the transition into engaged citizenship.

Scope of work
The Sports and Recreation Intern assists in the furthering of the mission and focus of the Student
Engagement unit, contributing to the short- and long-term goals of the Student Life Department
and its programs. Working in a variety of areas, the Sports and Recreation Intern will use their
experience to help reach the departmental outcomes of providing programs and services that
support students' development and promote engagement in sports, health and recreation activities.
Roles and Responsibilities
The roles and responsibilities of the Sports and Recreation Intern include but are not limited to:
• Facilitate and execute the health, recreation, and sports initiatives under the guidance of Student
Engagement Manager.
• Enhance the development of sports clubs' profile, level of reach and overall student
engagement in tournaments and friendly matches.
• Coordinate with the Student Engagement Assistant to guide and oversee student clubs in
planning and executing events and activities.
• Support to establish links with external organizations to develop health, recreation, and sports
programs to encourage participation.
• Coordinate communication and promotion strategies for sports and recreation activities.
• Develop professional development opportunities for student clubs' members including team
building, event management and other relevant workshops.
• Any other duties that may be required by the Student Engagement Manager
What we look for
• Final year university student or fresh graduate
• Ability to work in an English-speaking environment, with strong written and verbal
communication skills.
• Experience in planning and executing recreation, health or sports activities.
• Strong customer service skills and a high level of understanding of continuous improvement
principles.
• Ability to balance collaborative and independent work.
• Flexible work schedule, with ability to work weekends to facilitate and execute programming.
