Head of Engineering

JOB PURPOSE
1. Responsible for the overall management and direction of the company's Engineering department. Responsible for ensuring that all machinery, facilities and equipment are in good running conditions and at optimum level with minimum downtime by performing the duties and responsibilities personally or through his supervisors.
2. Responsible for the fix asset control and ledgers.
Responsible for identifying talent within the team and developing them for key positions; building a strong Engineering team.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Review job orders to determine work priorities. Schedule repairs and maintenance (and installation) of machines, tools, facilities and equipment to ensure continuous production operation.
2. Direct maintenance activities of utility systems to provide continuous supply of water and energy needed by the production department in the operation.
3. Plan and direct the activities of workers installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining machines, and equipment.
4. Plan and develop sound preventive maintenance program in coordination with other affected departments.
5. Review reports of production, quality control and maintenance statistics to plan and/or modify maintenance activities.
6. See to it that all technicians/operators are given the basic training in the proper use and handling of their machine or equipment.
7. Request tools, special/personalized tools, and equipment needed to assure a proper and correct implementation of PM activities.
8. Confer with Management, Production, and Quality Assurance departments to resolve maintenance concerns and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
9. Monitor and control Repair & Maintenance expenses vs budget to ensure that all costs are kept within the agreed budget or limits.
10. Ensure that the accurate and up-to-date records of all equipment and facilities are being maintained; resolve any issues and concerns related to maintenance procedures and equipment.
11. Monitor and control water and energy consumption based on the agreed target.
12. Plan ahead of schedule all needed parts and manpower required for overhauling. Evaluate the parts needed, the required quantity, in charge of the creation of PR, eventually the timing for the overhauling.
13. Review, monitor, and update all overhauling schedules, properly coordinate with the customer and Planning department.
14. Meet suppliers and contractors to discuss, review agreements and contracts and to review machine repair history and discuss solutions to minimize downtime and breakdowns.
15. Prepare the yearly Repair & Maintenance Budget which should be presented, discussed, and agreed upon with the GD
