QA Engineer (Jun - Mid)

Our clients are startups in a race: an MVP in 30 days, and billions of data points the year after. We're looking for a Data Engineer to build the platform that carries it.
We don't act like vendors. We embed. Our teams sit inside startups backed by YC, Pear VC, BlingCap, a16z, and Techstars, working beside founders and engineers from Stanford, MIT, Yale, Google, Amazon, and Uber. Together we ship those MVPs and scale the systems behind them to millions of users and billions of requests.
This isn't a batch-and-dashboards seat three layers from the client. You'll be in the founder's Slack. Your pipelines run in production. You'll own the data platform behind real-time operations, analytics, and AI, from ingestion all the way to serving.
70% of our portfolio is LLM-powered, and every one of those features runs on data someone had to make trustworthy first. That's your work. Cursor, Claude, and Codex are default tools here, not experiments. You'll use AI every day, and you'll be expected to use it well.
What you'll do
Shape Requirements: Partner with founders and engineers to review PRDs and designs. Catch edge cases and missing requirements before code is written.
Hands-on Execution: Perform functional, API, exploratory, and cross-browser/device testing.
Risk-Based Decisions: Decide what to test deeply and what to smoke test based on risk and timeline. Not everything needs full regression.
Process Calibration: Help set up and evolve QA workflows tailored to the product's current stage (from MVP to scale-up).
Smart Automation: Set up and maintain automation for repetitive test flows. Use AI tools (Claude, Cursor) daily to generate test data and speed up testing
Direct Client Work: Work directly with founders and founding engineers. No layers between you and the client
Cross-Project Delivery: Switch between projects as client needs change. Onboard new codebases, new domains, new teams quickly.
What we're looking for
Must-have
2+ years of QA experience in fast-moving environments where requirements shift quickly.
Strong English communication (written and verbal). You'll work directly with US startup founders and international clients daily.
Solid skills in functional, API, SQL, exploratory, and cross-browser testing.
Comfortable operating without a perfect spec. You ask the right questions and figure out what to test.
A product mindset. You care whether users have a good experience, not just whether test cases pass.
Comfortable switching projects. This quarter fintech, next quarter healthcare. That's us
Nice-to-have
Experience testing AI/LLM-powered features (prompt regression, evals).
Automation skills (Playwright, Cypress, or similar).
Experience defining acceptance criteria when specs are incomplete.
Experience working across multiple projects or domains.

People who only feel comfortable with detailed 50-page requirement docs, fixed release calendars, and corporate approval processes.
