Objectives of the Position: The Installation and Commissioning Engineer is responsible for overseeing the installation, testing, and commissioning of various systems and equipment in industrial construction projects. The objective is to ensure the successful and efficient implementation of all installations and commissioning activities according to project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Task and Responsibilities:
Plan and coordinate the installation, testing, and commissioning activities for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, as well as other specialized equipment and machinery.
Review project specifications, drawings, and technical documents to understand the requirements and scope of installation and commissioning works.
Develop detailed installation and commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures in collaboration with
project managers, engineers, and subcontractors.
Supervise and direct installation crews, subcontractors, and technicians to ensure work is performed safely, accurately, and in compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Conduct inspections and quality control checks throughout the installation process, verifying that workmanship, materials, and equipment meet project requirements and regulatory standards.
Coordinate with equipment suppliers and manufacturers to schedule delivery, installation, and startup of machinery, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and operations.
Perform functional testing and system integration tests to verify proper operation and performance of installed systems and equipment.
Troubleshoot technical issues, defects, and deficiencies identified during commissioning, coordinating with relevant parties to implement corrective actions and ensure timely resolution.
Prepare commissioning reports, documentation, and record drawings, documenting test results, as-built modifications, and equipment specifications for project records and client turnover.
Provide training and technical support to client personnel, ensuring they are proficient in operating and maintaining installed systems and equipment.
Undertakes any other tasks and assignments as directed by the Management.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering,
Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Working Experience and skills:
Proven experience at least 3 years in installation, testing, and commissioning roles within the construction industry, with a focus on industrial projects.
Thorough knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, as well as relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Experience in coordinating and supervising installation crews, subcontractors, and technicians to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to construction projects.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders.
Familiarity with commissioning processes, testing procedures, and equipment startup protocols in industrial settings.
Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
Professional certifications or licensure related to installation, testing, and commissioning are advantageous.
