Expert, Data Governance (Metadata)

I. Objective (3)
• To Establish and Operate Metadata Governance Framework: Build, standardize, and maintain a comprehensive metadata governance framework, including policies, standards, procedures, and supporting technologies.
• To Enhance Metadata Quality and Reliability: Ensure that metadata (including technical, business, and operational metadata) is collected accurately, consistently, completely, and kept up-to-date across the organization's data ecosystem.
• To Promote Data Understanding and Utilization (Data literacy): Enhance the ability to discover, understand, and trust data through effective management of the Data Catalog and Business Glossary.
• To Support Data Governance and Compliance: Ensure metadata actively supports other data governance activities such as data quality management, data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• To Optimize the Use of Metadata Tools: Ensure the enterprise metadata management tool is configured, integrated, and utilized most effectively, delivering maximum value to users. Deploying new initiatives, applying AI in Metadata management.
II. Key accountabilities
A. Develop and Enforce Policies
• Develop, document, and communicate metadata governance policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures. Monitor compliance with these standards.
B. Manage Metadata Platform
• Manage, configure, and maintain the enterprise metadata management platform/tool (Collibra, Databricks).
• Integrate metadata from various data sources into the platform.
• Coordinate with technical teams to capture, document, and visualize data lineage within the metadata management platform.
• Responsible for collecting and maintaining business terms in the Business Glossary.
• Link business terms to physical data assets (tables, columns, reports...).
• Ensure the data assets is enriched with descriptions, business context, classification information, and data owners/stewards.
C. Ensure Metadata Quality:
• Establish Metadata Quality (MQ) rules and metrics.
• Perform monitoring, audits, and implement remediation plans for metadata quality issues.
D. Data Classification:
• Assist in identifying and tagging sensitive or critical data assets based on approved definitions and standards.
E. Communication:
• Support CDAO, Data Governance Head with communication of key governance priorities and successes across the enterprise as needed.
• Work closely with Data Stewards, Data Owners, data development teams (Data Engineering, BI), Information Security, and business units to identify metadata needs, gather information, and resolve related issues.
F. Talent Development:
• Organize training sessions, provide guidance, and support end-users in utilizing metadata tools and understanding metadata governance best practices.
• Continuous Improvement: Research new trends, technologies, and best practices in metadata management to propose improvements to the existing governance framework and tools.
